E03 :: 7 Reasons You Don't Need an Advertising Agency :: Part 2

This episode covers the last four reasons hiring a typical advertising agency might not get you where you want to go.

4. Agencies too often support vanity metrics rather than real metrics.

The question to ask:
Tell me how you would determine if a digital campaign has been successful?

The answer you don’t want to hear:
We were able to increase site traffic by X percent. We increased page hits, etc.

5. Agencies often claim they can do it all and understand it all.

The question to ask:
What is your weakest capability?

The answer you don’t want to hear:
We have mastered a broad set of capabilities. In other words, we do it all well.

6. Agencies often are better at selling themselves than selling your product.

The question to ask:
Can we meet tomorrow?

The answer you don’t want to hear:
We need some time to prep for the meeting, can we get together in a couple of weeks.

7. Agencies don’t practice what they preach.

The question to ask:
Can I see your detailed marketing plan for your agency?

The answer you don’t want to hear:
We’ll need some time to prep for the meeting and pull together what you're looking for.
