Craziness on the Air Waves

Two things I've heard on the radio today amazed me. First, Barney Frank (D-Ma) said the reason the Federal Gov't (BTW, don't forget that Federal Gov't is code for YOU) should give even more money to Boston for the "Big Dig" is because that's what it means to be part of a Federal Government. He said if New Orleans can have money after Katrina then we should have some too. Let me see if I understand, hundreds of thousands of people are left homeless and destitute by a hurricane and if they get money to rebuild then a corrupt, incompetent, thieving, bumbling group of rich white guys should get even more buckets of cash. This guy is a government representative and clearly believes the primary duty of the government is to take money from one group and give it to another. Call me simple-minded but that sounds a lot like robbery.

The second thing I heard was about a local community school requiring a signed agreement that you will submit to random drug tests if you are on a sports team, in band or a club or if you drive to school. Virtually every body that called into the talk show said, "You don't understand, things are different now" and then went on to support the move. However, everytime the host asked why the caller then wouldn't support random drug tests on every citizen, they were appalled. Why? If we're not going to teach kids about freedom by our actions now, it will only be a generation until that's where we end up anyway.
